If a photo is the most important feature...
then you must be on instagram
There are 300 million people on Instagram each month - more users than Twitter. Your Optimist Club needs its own dedicated and separate Intagram account.
The sample at left provides an example of how to set up your Instagram account. Most importantly your brand needs to be clear with a logo, and there is only one place you can link to your website, under the logo and description of your club. Again, this is another example where the link to your website provides credibility to your other social media tools.
Make sure your Club name stays consistent across your website and all of your social media accounts. Your Instagram Bio is your one opportunity to convince people on Instagram of your value and the content you will add to their Instagram feeds. So follow this formula for your Bio:
Who you are as a Club + What your Club does + pop of personality
Post photos of your Club activities and events, having fun and making a difference. Post memes about Optimism. Remember 90% of what is transmitted to our brains is visually focussed.
Make sure your photos are clear and crisp, not blurry. Since Instagram is focused on photos as the main communication with your followers, quality is all important. Instagram prefers square format photos, so save your photos as 1024 by 1024 if possible.
Like many other social media tools, the best day to post on Instagram is on Sunday. Invite your followers on other social media - Facebook, Twitter and also your website to check out your Instagram account and follow you there. Thank people when they take the time to comment on your Instagram account.
Hashtags are an important way to attract people interested in those words to your Instagram account. Use hashtags like:
#optimism #Optimist #optimistic
and create one of your own, but remember to keep it short.
